Volcafe cho biết, gần đây, lượng cà phê mà nông dân vận chuyển ra cảng Panjang ở phía nam Sumatra tăng mạnh. Tuần trước, lượng hàng đưa ra cảng vào khoảng 5000-5500 tấn, từ mức 2000-2500 tấn vào giữa tháng 8.     The discount buyers are demanding for coffee from Vietnam, the world’s largest producer of robusta beans, continued to narrow in the past week, as rains delayed the country’s coffee harvest, traders said. Beans from the 2011-12 season are selling at a discount of $20 to $40 a metric ton to the price on the NYSE Liffe exchange in London, according to three traders, who have direct knowledge of the prices and declined to be identified because they aren’t authorized to speak to the media.   • Robusta Coffee Traders Bet on Lower Prices, Liffe Data Show
    Money managers were betting on lower robusta coffee prices in London last week, reversing a bet on higher values the previous seven weeks, according to data from NYSE Liffe. Net-short positions, or bets prices will fall, came to 6,251 contracts as of Oct. 25, data on the exchange’s website today show. That compares to net-long positions, or bets on higher prices, of 2,256 contracts as of Oct. 18, the data show. Money managers have been reducing their net long bets since the reports started on Sept. 6. Robusta coffee for January delivery fell 2.1 percent from Oct. 18 to Oct. 25 before a bigger harvest in Vietnam, the world’s largest producer of the bitter beans.     Pham Chi Lan, a well known economist in Vietnam, has urged relevant ministries to consider installing non-tariff barriers to control the imports, which she believes a very important thing that needs to be done in preparing for the implementation of free trade agreements (FTAs). From now to 2015, under the commitments Vietnam has made in six bilateral and multilateral FTAs, Vietnam will have to gradually cut down the tariffs of thousands of goods items to 0-5 percent, mostly to 0 percent, and open the domestic market widely for imports.     Vinacafe Bien Hoa Joint-Stock Co., a unit of Vietnam's second-biggest coffee exporter, said full- year net income may exceed its forecast by 44 percent as raw- material costs were less than anticipated. Profit for the year ending December 31 may rise to 200 billion dong ($9.6 million), compared with the previous forecast of 139 billion dong, said deputy general director Le Hung Dung.
